{"id":368,"date":"2024-12-11T19:53:52","date_gmt":"2024-12-11T19:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.helensburghlionsclub.co.uk\/?p=368"},"modified":"2025-03-12T09:35:00","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T09:35:00","slug":"lions-support-christmas-lights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.helensburghlionsclub.co.uk\/?p=368","title":{"rendered":"Lions support Christmas Lights"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volunteers of Helensburgh Festive Lighting\u00a0Charitable Trust attended a meeting to thank the Helensburgh Lions Club for their generous gift of \u00a32000 towards\u00a0the cost of this year&#8217;s annual Christmas Lights spectacle.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each year, the community organisation&nbsp;has to raise \u00a38,500&nbsp;to fund the installation, repair and removal of&nbsp;the festive lights &#8211; and the latest donation has given them a much-needed boost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The donation has helped to repair some of the oldest features in the display which include the three meter illuminations on Sinclair Street, from King Street to the Victoria Halls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lights were facing retirement because of the \u00a3100 cost of each part to repair the nine features that are held in stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A spokesperson from the group said: &#8220;The lights&nbsp;were purchased in 2010 when volunteers&nbsp;raised \u00a325,000 from the community to restore a Christmas lights display in town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The Lions Club was one of the first donors to hand in their&nbsp;cheque for \u00a3500 and they have supported us ever since, helping to ensure that the display is funded annually.&nbsp;
