HELENSBURGH Lions Club held their annual lunch for 68 local senior citizens recently. This year a lunch to celebrate the centenary of the founding of Lions Club in Chicago by Melvin Jones.

The lunch was held at Helensburgh Golf Club and all the guests enjoyed a delicious three course lunch with drinks.

After the meal entertainment was provided by the popular Beth Street and the Streetwise Concert Party before the afternoon concluded with a free everyone’s a winner raffle.

The Lions Club extend their thanks to Golf Club chef Nick and his team, to Nicola and Marie who kept the drinks flowing and the Captain and committee of the Golf Club for the use of their facilities and their ongoing support.

The club also thank the local Waitrose Community Matters Scheme which donated £500 towards the cost of the special senior citizens lunch.

Helensburgh Lions Club is part of the world wide organisation Lions Club International, a group with over 1.4 million members which is celebrating its centenary this year.

The Club is pleased to contribute to national and international initiatives, however, over 90 per cent of their funds are spent locally.
